Competences for future logistics in V4 countries

Smart Logistics Hub: Drones and Human Oversight in the Future of Warehousing

In the VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) world the work and market requirements change rapidly, differently, and to a greater extent than in the past years, affect a greater number of individuals. Career prospects and the "education–future labour market fit" are more uncertain. One of the areas that are subject to changes is logistics due to deregulation, globalisation, digitalisation, changes in consumer behaviour, technological advances. As a result new requirements for employees in this sector: both professional and soft competences such as enabling them to cope with uncertainty are observed. The issue of changes in skills is particularly important in relation to the role of higher education. It is necessary to adapt new methods. The planned project meets this need by proposing the development and pilot use of an original methodology supporting the process of developing future-oriented competences. Due to the importance of uncertainty, discontinuities, and dynamic turbulence, it is proposed to use foresight and Futures Literacy approaches for competences development.

The main objectives

The project is aimed at improving the so-called future-oriented competences of students of logistics. An original methodology of creative workshops, based on foresight and Futures Literacy methods, will be developed. Creative workshops aimed at acquiring or developing future-oriented competences will be organised:

  1. in partner countries (national)
  2. an international creative workshop

Deliverables

  • Kick-off meeting, online, PL (Event–), online, PL
  • National creative workshops in Hungary (Budapest), Poland (Kielce), Slovakia (Zilina), and Czechia (Uherské Hradište)
  • Good practices
  • International creative workshop (Budapest, Hungary)
  • Developed and verified methodology of creative workshops

Key result

Original methodology of creative workshops applying both foresight and Futures Literacy approaches. Methodology will be developed and modified with the use of good practices resulting from national workshops in V4 countries. Quality of this novel methodology is of key importance for the success of running the national and international workshops. It is planned for wider use after the project end for the needs of shaping future-oriented competences.
